Players from Bowls Cyprus are doing extremely well and several Cypriots have since taken up the game and competed at international level. Players from Cyprus have competed in many leagues including the new league amongst the smaller bowling countries. Several players in the Bowls Cyprus team have also competed in the World Indoor Championships. The association has a National Team Coach – Mike Cooper.

Green Bowls In Cyprus

Green bowling is the perfect sport for Cyprus because of the island’s good weather, it can be enjoyed all year round and during the warm summer evenings several of the clubs organise floodlit games which add a new dimension to the sport!

Level green bowling was introduced in Cyprus in 1995 with the creation of the Aliathon Bowling Club in Kato Paphos. The club’s 13 rinks were built using all-weather synthetic grass which has proved ideal for the Cypriot climate as it is not damaged by higher summer temperatures.

Since then, Green Bowls in Cyprus has become really popular – particularly with local British residents- and another three clubs have opened - Louis Phaethon, Club Aphrodite in Erimi, near Limassol  and Coral Bay. Work will begin on another rink at Dherynia shortly which will be ideal for those who want to play Green Bowls in Larnaca.

The four clubs have a total of 350+ members and four years ago they joined together to form ‘Bowls Cyprus’ - a structured league, which gives opportunities for quality coaching, umpiring and marking courses, and the association is registered with World Bowls and the European Bowls Union and is officially recognised by KOA, the Cyprus Sports Federation, and the Cypriot Government. The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) promotes Cyprus as a specialist sports destination, which is proving popular as clubs from northern Europe know they can depend on the Cyprus weather to provide endless days of good bowling all year round!
