Leventis Museum Nicosia One place of interest that is being talked about in the capital (Nicoisia) is the Leventis Municipal Museum which earlier this year reopened after an ambitious two year restoration project that included the creation of new exhibition areas. The museum first opened in 1989 and is located in an old merchant’s townhouse. The museum was created by the Leventis Foundation and it tells the city’s 6,000 year history in a series of exhibitions displaying archaeological pieces, pottery, costumes, maps and old photographs. To everyone’s delight just two years after it opened it won the European Museum of the Year award.
