Another great place to visit whilst on your Cyprus holiday and a great option for a day out on the holiday island is the village of Pissouri. The village although geographically is in the Limassol district. It actually lies between the towns of Limassol and Paphos just a few minutes from Aphrorides Rock.
There are two main parts to Pissouri, Pissouri Village on the large green hill, and Pissouri Bay and Beach. The population is just over 1000, with half of the population being British nationals. The hill top village has several banks, shops, tavernas, restaurants and bars mainly located round the village square. These are popular with locals and visitors alike and many offer the traditional Cypriot Meze. Another feature of the village is the Amphitheatre which is perched on the hillside and makes a great location for outdoor concerts and performances.
The upper part of Pissouri is also scattered with various apartments and holiday villas, making it an ideal location for a Cyprus Holiday. Pissouri village receives an above average amount of rain fall making it look a little greener than many surrounding area. This also means it is a popular farming area for grapes, including both table and wine varieties and also citrus fruits.
Pissouri Bay and Beach has a great character scattered with restaurants including the popular Vine Leaf tavern serving great Cypriot cuisine as well as a handful of other establishments all generally serving top notch cuisine. Being on the beach some specialise in fish dishes and the famous Fish Meze.
